PVAW and gender equity training offered by other organisations
Training and other learning opportunities are regularly offered by a number of organisations in Victoria besides women’s health services. This training is useful as PD for PVAW workers as well as for organisations looking for particular training or workshops in primary prevention or response.
Organisationally endorsed training
Some organisations offer training packages and require trainers endorsed by them to deliver standard (quality) content. These training packages include:
- Our Watch - Workplace Equality and Respect (WER) training package
This training is designed for workplaces implementing the WER program which covers how gender inequality drives violence against women and how workplaces can work to prevent violence. It’s based on a world first framework “Change the Story” for a consistent and integrated national approach to preventing violence against women and their children. Our Watch has consolidated and built on existing initiatives to produce a package of evidence-based standards and tools to support workplaces to take action to prevent violence against women. Our Watch is endorsing trainers who can demonstrate their knowledge of Change the Story and its application - No to Violence is an organisation specialising in ending men’s family violence
They offer training packages designed for a wide range of professionals, including specialist men’s family violence workers and practitioners in the community, family, education and health sectors. No To Violence trainers have extensive experience working directly with men towards meaningful behaviour change - Domestic Violence Resource Centre offers a range of prevention and response training packages including advanced workshops on the Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework MARAM, used for responding to family violence
- Victorian government online training modules on MARAM
Other organisations also provide training, resources and events around prevention of violence against women and equity
