Professional development for PVAW gender equity trainers
Gender Equity Victoria is running a project to support the development of skills and qualifications of eligible PVAW trainers working with women’s health services. Building the Pool of Qualified Trainers Experienced in the Prevention of Violence Against Women has been funded by the Victorian Government to meet the urgent demand for qualified prevention of violence against women (PVAW) trainers to deliver vocational education courses in PVAW, gender equity and responding to family violence and other forms of violence against women. These courses currently in development and will start to be available by the end of 2019.
The project aims to increase the number of prevention of violence against women practitioners in rural, regional and metropolitan Victoria who can deliver and assess accredited vocational units of study.
The project is offering:
- scholarships for eligible PVAW trainers to use for TAFE fees to upgrade their old TAE 40110 or to complete the new TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- support a Community of Practice for trainer participants (face-to-face and webinar) designed to assist in the completion of the Certificate IV, and the development of the specific PVAW training skills of practitioners
